COMPETITION
Andrew York Concert and Seven Bridges Guitar Festival
Competition winners will receive an opportunity to perform during the opening of the Andrew York Concert on the stage of Terry Concert Hall.
Competition Rules:
All competitors must be registered for the Seven Bridges Guitar Festival. There are NO additional competition entry fees. Guitar players of all ages are welcome!
All entries must play a song composed by Andrew York (see Andrew York - Sheet Music Downloads) and should not be longer than 4 minutes. Points won’t be taken off for being under time or over time, but you might be stopped if you go over too much. Play your best!
All entries must include at least one guitar player, and all types of conventional guitars are accepted. Competitors can perform in one of three categories:
Soloists,
Small ensembles of 5 or fewer players, and
Large ensembles of 6+ players.
Easy to register. All you have to do is make a quality video recording of yourself or your ensemble playing your selected Andrew York song and post it to YouTube or another similar online video platform.
Then send an email to info@guitarnorthflorida.com with your full name, age, your email address, name of song, and -- THIS IS IMPORTANT -- the link to where your video can be located online. If you are part of an ensemble, please also provide the name of your ensemble.
All videos are due October 1st!!! That’s it! That’s the First Round. Congrats, you did it! Next up… Finals!
The Finals: We’ll invite (by email and post on our website and social media pages) our top choice players and ensembles to come to the Seven Bridges Guitar Festival held on the beautiful campus of Jacksonville University. Finalists will perform for a distinguished panel of judges on the morning of the festival at a scheduled time. Upon conclusion of the final round, the winners will be announced.
The winning players and ensembles will perform on the stage at the professional setting of Terry Concert Hall at the opening of the Andrew York Concert. The performance will be open to the general audience.
The decisions of our distinguished panel of judges are final.
All concert & festival proceeds support our “Guitar in Schools” initiative, which effectively engages new students with music education
by supporting classroom-based guitar education in under-resourced schools.
