Our Teaching Artists
Jacob Spangler is a classical guitarist, composer, and educator based in Jacksonville, Florida. With a background that blends classical training, six years of military service, and nearly a decade of teaching experience, he brings a grounded, student-centered approach to music education. Jacob earned his bachelor’s degree in music from Stetson University and has taught privately, in after-school programs, and at School of Rock, in addition to working as GNF's first Teaching Artist. He works with students of all ages and skill levels.
Having lived and worked abroad for several years, Jacob developed a deep appreciation for how music builds confidence and community. He is passionate about helping schools recognize the unique accessibility and transformative potential of guitar education, believing that because the guitar is such an approachable and culturally familiar instrument, it can open doors for students who might otherwise never see themselves reflected in the arts. For Jacob, the guitar is a bridge that expands opportunity and helps all students find a place to belong.
