Guitar North Florida (GNF) is founded on the beliefs that:
Music can be a uniquely powerful force for transforming the lives of individuals and entire communities.
Guitars, though seemingly simple instruments, have the extraordinary ability to ignite blazes of musical enthusiasm and, thanks to its endless variety of styles, connect diverse communities, bridging cultural, economic, and other differences -- fostering meaningful creativity, joy, and connections among people.
GUITARS IN SCHOOLS
At the heart of the organization’s mission is “VIVA LA GUITARRA,” an educational program launched upon our inception with the purpose of increasing the quantity and improving the quality of classroom-based guitar instruction in K-12 schools throughout North Florida. Classical guitar programs have proven to be a uniquely effective and engaging solution for under-resourced schools struggling to provide high-quality arts education for their students. GNF aims to make guitar education accessible to all young students, regardless of their background.
MUSIC AND HEALING
Guitar North Florida also pursues its mission through “Heart Strings,” a community outreach program that focuses on music and healing, providing individualized engagements with people experiencing mental or physical health challenges, as well as those in elderly living facilities, veterans' homes, or those incarcerated, and other individuals and groups facing difficulties.
ARTISTIC PROGRAMS
Guitar North Florida aims to sponsor youth and adult ensembles and host a variety of artistic programs, including:
